SOFT ENAMEL PINS

PRICES LISTED ARE FOR CLEAR, SCRATCH RESISTANT, ACRYLIC FINISH.

Glazy (soft enamel):
The designs are etched into the base metal. Each piece has liquid glass inserted by hand and is then fired at 400°, polished and plated. A clear epoxy dome is added as a finishing touch. Glazy is best suited for detailed and intricate designs, as the base metal lines dividing the enamel can be very thin. The range of colors is virtually unlimited.

HARD ENAMEL PINS
(Cloisonné)

Cloisonné (hard enamel):
Different colors of powdered glass are applied by hand to the die struck copper base. Each piece is fired at 1500° to produce brilliant hard fired enamel colors. The pieces are stoned, buffed and polished to a fine finish and gold or silver plated. Cloisonné is best suited for simpler designs, as the base metal lines dividing the enamel are wider.

HELPFUL HINTS WHEN ORDERING PINS.

  • Larger letters may be in color if there is room around each letter for the wide base metal dividing lines.
  • Small letters and fine detail cannot be color filled, they must show in the metal.
  • Lines (retaining walls) must always separate colors.
  • A border must surround the entire design.
