Helpful Hints For Ordering Patches

Our skilled art department will do all the work necessary to make even your roughest sketches into finished art pieces. We do suggest, however, that you keep in mind the guidelines below. They will help you in translating your ideas into a specific emblem design. And this in turn, will assist us in our efforts to create for you a beautiful emblem that you can wear with pride.

Shape:  Your design effort is not limited to the shape outlines pictured above, although they represent popular patterns. You can use them if applicable, but feel free to consider other shapes as well.

Size:  The proper size for your emblem is usually determined by its use:
For caps - 2½" to 3½" sizes are the most common.
For shoulder or front of jacket - 3½" to 5" sizes are generally preferred.
Backpatches usually range from 6" x 10" to 8" x 12" sizes.

Lettering:  For best clarity letters should be at least ¼". Letters smaller than this tend to lose sharpness and will not stand out as effectively as larger letters. Allow plenty of room for greater legibility. If lettering seems cramped, consider abbreviating. While block letters are most common, any style of lettering can be reproduced.

Colors:  Select contrasting colors for a more dramatic and beautiful emblem. If light color lettering or design details are desired, then select a dark color background. Use dark color letters or design details on a light background. Using a variety of colors will greatly add to the appearance of your emblem, and since the price is the same for any amount of colors, you need not limit your choices.

Design:  Don't try to crowd in too many details. If your emblem design seems too busy or cluttered, try to simplify it or go to a larger size. A simple bold design will make for a more striking emblem than a lot of tiny details. Naturally the neater and more precise the artwork you submit, the more accurately we will be able to reproduce the design you want.
